HOW TO CARE FOR METALLIC FINISHES AND FAUX MARBLE
Metal finishes and faux marble are popular in the design world as they add glamour and style to living spaces. Careful cleaning and maintenance ensures you will enjoy your furniture for many years to come.
Learn how to clean and maintain items made with faux marble, silver plating, polished stainless steel, and metal finishes.
POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL AND METAL FINISHES
Clean polished stainless steel and metal finishes with a diluted cleaner. Apply a small amount to a clean cloth, then gently wipe the surface. If the finish is not altered and has not been transferred to the cloth, continue cleaning the rest of the product. Remove any cleaner residue with a clean cloth dampened with tepid water, then dry with a clean cloth. Do not let air dry.
FAUX MARBLE
Dust faux marble once per week with a soft cloth. Do not use abrasives for cleaning. Test a mild all-purpose cleaner on a small, inconspicuous area first. If the surface is not altered, continue cleaning the rest of the object. Spray the cleaner on the faux marble and wipe clean with a damp sponge. Rinse the sponge with water and wipe away any excess cleaner. Dry the faux marble with a chamois or microfiber towel.
Wax or fiberglass polish helps restore the shine of faux marble. Use it twice per year or as often as needed. Apply a thin, even layer of countertop wax or fiberglass polish with a soft cloth if the faux marble looks dull. Allow the wax or polish to dry (it will appear hazy), then buff the faux marble to a shine with a clean, soft cloth or chamois.
